The club was registered with the Kennel Club in December 1971 and at that time it was very much show oriented. Shortly  afterwards a field trial branch of the club was formed under the guidance of Mr John Cater later assisted by Mr Roger Tozer, both are now life members. Our first field trial was held at Margam Park, Port Talbot, and over the years as the interest in field trialing increased, so did our membership which now stands at approximately 250 members. Although in comparison to some other clubs, our membership is fairly small but being only dedicated to the breed of English Springer Spaniels this is quite understandable.

Club affairs are run by an elected and dedicated committee that oversee that the club is run according to it’s  constitution and in the interests of it’s members also within Kennel Club rules and regulations. There are no restrictions on becoming a member, other than being nominated and seconded by current members, annual subscriptions are £10. There is also a £10 joining fee for new members.

FIELD TRIALS

In the season we normally organize and run 4/5 trials, one Open stake the others being Novice stakes. We also hold a summer assessment spaniel test(Novice & Open) which includes Cocker Spaniels, on the test day we provide experienced spaniel trainers that will advise on all aspects of spaniel training. The assessment test and the training advise is open to non-members, whilst entry for field trials gives members preference over non- members.

SHOW

We hold 2 shows a year, one Championship show and one Open Show, contact and entry details will be displayed on the appropriate page of this site as soon as available.
